Meaning and name origin
Chaunte \cha(un)-te\ as a girl's name is of French and Old French origin, and the meaning of Chaunte is "to sing; stone". Chaunte is a variant of Chante (French): from the word "chanter". Also a variant of Chantal (Old French): it was originally given in honor of Saint Jeanne-Françoise de Chantal (17th-century), a woman of great piety who adopted religion and founded an order of nuns, the Vistandines, devoted at first to charity and later to teaching and devotion to Jesus.
Chaunte is not a popular first name for females and an equally uncommon surname or last name for all people (2000 U.S. Census).
Chaunte is also pronounced similarly to Shaunte and Shawnte. Other suggested similar baby names are Chanta, Chantae, Chantea, Chantee, Chantey, Chaunta, Chauntay and Chauntel. These names tend to be more commonly used than Chaunte.
