Wole \wo-le\ as a boy's name is of Yoruban origin, and the meaning of Wole is "has come to home". A common Yoruba name used as a short form for names such as Olawole, Oyewole and Oluwole. Other short forms are Ola, Oye or Olu. Oluwole, meaning "God has come home", is one of the names of Wole Soyinka, the first African winner (1986) of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
