Chloris as a girls' name is of Greek origin, and the meaning of Chloris is "green, greenish-yellow". From "khloros". Greek mythology: a minor goddess of vegetation who was also the goddess of spring. The name is thus the Greek equivalent of Flora. It was used by the Roman poet Horace for one of his loves (see Lalage), and was used by Augustan poets of the 17th and 18th centuries.
