Also short form of Ivana, the Russian feminine form of John; nickname of Savannah and Vanessa; feminine form of Van, short for Evan. Literary: the Italian version first appeared in 1294 in a book by the poet Dante. Familiarity of Vanna in the 1980s and 1990s is due to Vanna White of the TV game show "Wheel of Fortune".
